About ImageBebop

ImageBebop is the photo site I always wanted to use — so I built it. A clean, quiet place that puts your photography first and gets out of the way. No social feed, no likes, no comments, no algorithms, no noise. Just your photos, in their full range, behind a private link you control.

It’s built around a few promises. Your original files are never touched — every upload is preserved exactly as you sent it, ready to download anytime. The only thing we ever ask for is your email address; there’s no other personal data to collect. And it’s engineered to be genuinely fast, without ever cutting corners on image quality.

It works the same everywhere — the website and the native iPhone and iPad apps share the same features — with the iOS apps adding the niceties native apps do best, like uploading from the share sheet.

Frequently asked questions

What is ImageBebop?

ImageBebop is a clean, fast home for your photography. Create a gallery, upload your photos, and share a private link — your shots display in true HDR on supported screens, with an automatic SDR fallback everywhere else, so every highlight and shadow comes through. There's no social feed, no likes, and no comments by design: the focus stays on your images.

Which photo formats can I upload?

JPEG, PNG, Apple HEIC, and DNG (including iPhone ProRAW). Modern iPhones shoot HEIC with HDR built in, but browsers can't display it directly — so ImageBebop converts HEIC and DNG to an ISO 21496-1 Ultra HDR gain-map JPEG, an HDR format today's browsers can actually show, while always keeping your untouched original file for download.

Can I upload videos?

No — ImageBebop is built for photography, and only photography. We don't host video, which keeps the whole experience focused, fast, and simple.

Are my original files safe?

Always. ImageBebop never modifies, recompresses, or deletes your original — we keep it exactly as you uploaded it, and you can download the full-quality original at any time. The HDR renditions we generate for the web are in addition to your file, never a replacement for it.

Is there an app?

Yes. ImageBebop runs in any modern browser, and there are native iPhone and iPad apps — all three share the same features. The iOS and iPadOS apps add the things native apps do best, like uploading straight from the system share sheet and sharing photos out to other apps.

Is there a Lightroom plugin?

Yes. The ImageBebop plugin for Lightroom Classic adds ImageBebop as an Export destination, so you can send photos straight from Lightroom into a gallery — picking an existing gallery or creating a new one right in the Export dialog — without a separate browser upload step. Download it from this About page; to connect it, sign in on imagebebop.com, open the menu on your galleries screen, and select 'Get Lightroom Plugin Key' to get a one-time key to paste in.

What is Ultra HDR?

Ultra HDR (ISO 21496-1) is a JPEG that carries a normal image plus a 'gain map' of the extra highlight detail. A gain-map JPEG is currently the only HDR image format today's web browsers widely support, so it shows full HDR on capable displays and falls back cleanly to SDR everywhere else. As newer formats like JPEG XL gain browser support, we'll adopt them to take advantage.

How should I export HDR photos for the best color?

Export HDR JPEGs in the Display P3 color space. ImageBebop treats HDR JPEGs as Display P3, so a photo exported as Rec. 709 / sRGB or Rec. 2020 — for example Lightroom's 'HDR sRGB (Rec. 709)' option — can look oversaturated. If you upload one, the gallery flags it with a 'Not P3' note so you can re-export. HEIC and DNG files (iPhone photos, ProRAW) already use the right color space automatically, so this only applies to HDR JPEGs.

Are my galleries private?

Yes. Each gallery has a random, unguessable link, and that link is the only way to reach it. Galleries are never listed publicly or indexed by search engines, and you can create revocable, time-limited view or collaborator links. The only personal information ImageBebop stores is your email address.

Do viewers need an account or app?

No. Anyone with a gallery link can view it in their browser — no account, no app, no install. Only creating a gallery requires signing in, and signing in is just a magic link sent to your email — no password to set or remember.

Lightroom Classic plugin

Export photos straight from Adobe Lightroom Classic into a ImageBebop gallery — pick an existing gallery or create a new one right from the Export dialog, with no separate browser upload step. Free, and works alongside the web and iOS/iPad apps.

To install: unzip the download, then in Lightroom open File › Plug-in Manager, click Add, and select the imagebebop.lrplugin file. To connect it to your account: sign in at imagebebop.com, open the menu on your galleries screen, and choose “Get Lightroom Plugin Key” — then paste that key into the plugin.
